LGBTQI+ Services

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, two-spirit, and other diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions (LGBTQI+) community faces several significant barriers to seeking mental health care. The most common barriers include fear of discrimination, stigma, and prejudice. LGBTQI+ youths and adults face a high rate of suicide attempts.

LGBTQI+ people face a higher rate of mental health disorders, substance abuse, suicide, and higher rates of victimization. Discrimination and violence against LGBTQI+ people affect their mental health and emotional safety. Personal, family and social acceptance of sexual orientation and gender identity affects the mental health and emotional safety of LGBT people.

LGBTQI+ people need to know they are supported, regardless of their mental health and substance use. If you are struggling with your mental health, you must seek professional help.
